USA - The inaugural meeting of the AMA Motocross/Supercross Rules Committee was held in Irvine, Calif., on Thursday, Sept. 7. The primary purpose of the newly-formed rules committees is to develop technical rules, each committee is also empowered to act in an advisory role, as well.
Rules Committees have been formed for each discipline of AMA Championship racing and are part of a new process for developing technical rules. The AMA Road Racing Rules Committee held its second meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 6th. First meetings for AMA Supermoto and AMA Flat Track will be held at AMA headquarters in Pickerington, Ohio during the week of Sept. 11th.
Once a rule is decided upon by a rules committee, it is elevated through the AMA Racing Committee to the AMA Board of Directors for ratification. The board of directors can either approve the rule as is or send it back to the rules committee with comment. The board is empowered to either approve or deny the rule but not change it.
